I get this newsletter via email called “Guided Thinking“. I enjoy receiving it, its informative and full of ways to think differently, i.e. ‘better’ so that you don’t sabotage yourself with negative thought patterns. The title of the newsletter though is what got me thinking a little. I doubt this is what the creators had in mind but hey, I take full responsibility for my own brain and the paths it creates.
I’ve never been really good with others trying to “help” me think. In fact I resent it most of the time unless I ask them to. Capricorns need to do things their own way or they get discombolated and insecure. This is not to say we never need help, but merely that if we don’t ask, don’t even think about offering up your “better way”.
This entry isn’t meant to be a stand on stubborness, just some thoughts about how very badly so many people seem to WANT to be guided in their thinking. In fact, most of us don’t want to think for ourselves. We don’t even want a human guide. We want a spirit guide, something that’s not even tangible to human touch or sight. We want something “unreal” to help us with what is. Am I saying spirit guides or otherwordly help doesn’t exist? Not at all. I am saying that its unfortunate that where we look first for guidance is to something or someone we don’t even know how to communicate with.
Even those of you who believe in the dogma of the Christian church would surely acknowledge that where God wants you to give your attention the most stares back at you through the eyes of your family, friends and neighbors. Then there’s you yourself. I don’t understand sometimes why there are chatrooms and telephone lines full of people who cannot or will not be the source of the very things they want the most. It is apparently so hard to talk to other people on a personal level or any level other than cursory, that you have to ask someone like me how someone right next to you feels or thinks and even how YOU should feel or think. Most people don’t really need a guide, they just need to wake the hell up. This may be the only shot you get at this life. If its not, I’m not telling you. Give it your best shot.
Susan Powter, a fitness guru, says that we instinctually know what we should and shouldn’t eat. I think she’s right. Think about it, we exist comfortably in denial because it isn’t painful. If avoiding pain is your foundation for getting through the day you better think about that some more. Whatever it is you believe or think or live by, turn it around. Ask yourself why you need to believe that. Ask yourself what would happen if you didn’t. Most of you that I talk to have this great wall built around you that you think is wisely called “preservation”. OK that’s fine, who or what are you preserving it for? Posterity can’t love you back. You want that one person who “understands” you so badly but oh ok, you don’t need them. Don’t worry about it, they couldn’t get through your wall if they tried, you’ve made sure of that. So stop asking me why you don’t have who or what you want. Talk to me about how to BE it first and we’ll go from there.
