Every now and then I come across something I thought I understood but had all wrong as it turns out. Every so often the light comes on and it occurs to me that I’ve realized some amazing truth that should have been obvious, amazing, to me anyway. The thing is, I then am compelled to do the seemingly impossible, attempt to explain it.

In between the search for home and wandering away lies the reality that I am, you are, that an entity exists within the flesh and bones of what we call “ourselves.” All the scriptures in all the writings of ancient and respected scholars of every culture and every era have tried to get us to understand this one thing above all else; that the Higher Being we seek out for knowledge, comfort, inspiration and even sustenance isn’t somewhere ELSE. I AM the way, the truth, and the life. There are as many ways to word that as there are languages to say it in. We think so small when we take things at face value sometimes, that we miss the obvious. Isn’t it often the simplest of things that are in fact the most amazing or significant? I Am. We picture someone else saying that, being the embodiment of that. We project I AM into another life form or constructed perception of a deity that must be better than we are or higher than we are because someone told us we are sin, we are darkness, we are just plain wrong. Granted this may all be the stuff of conjecture but what if its not? What if the only abstract theory here is our own misunderstanding?

In my experience there has never been a clear or acceptable explanation of what souls are or what God is, no matter what you call it in any culture. When we don’t understand something so high and spiritual we are then told to simply accept it on faith. Now I am a big believer in faith, but blind faith is too often an excuse for making choices we didn’t bother to think through. What is it that made ours or any other universe come into being in such an organized fashion? What is it that keeps it alive, what keeps US alive? What is life, what is this breath of life that thinks, communicates, loves, creates, IS? I AM. You Are. The same stuff of life, the atoms, the molecules, the electricity, this combined life force exists and lives in absolutely everything everywhere taking different forms and shapes and even personalities.

How are we all connected? Because we are all made of the same “stuff”, the same life, the same materials that animate us is what the cosmos consists of. How did we come into being, how did anything come into being? I say again and again…Thoughts are things, words have power. I am the way, the truth, the life, it all came to be with a thought, a word, an understanding that creation happens every time we THINK about it and speak what we think. What we believe becomes what we have. How else could human beings understand something without putting a label or description to it? If you’re still not getting what I’m saying, picture the deity of your choice saying out loud, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” and then pointing to themselves. Then, repeat it out loud and point to yourself . As you do that, realize that “I AM” means the energy, the electricity, the breathe that keeps you alive, that IS life itself. You ARE.

Try and imagine that the image and likeness humans were made “after”, is the same “image” as all of outer space, the same things that the planets and stars are made of, we are made of. Made in the image. OK..now that I’ve got you to that point, lets go a bit further. Try to realize that which you do when you think is not real thinking, because it is not conscious thinking; for you are for the most part, unconscious of that life force within you, the Inspirer and Director of every idea and thought that enters your mind.

Next, realize because there is something we are calling “I AM” within you, and you are the Image and Likeness of all that is, that you therefore possess the power of thinking; but not up until now perhaps, have you been conscious that thinking is creating and is a divine power you have indeed all your life been using. You have been thinking all your life, but perhaps it has all been mis-thinking.

The proof of this is, you think you are separated from some divine being, that you are living in a material World, that your body of Flesh engenders and harbors pleasure and pain, and that an evil influence, is manifesting in the world, opposing you. These things are true to you, for all things are to man’s mortal consciousness what he thinks or believes they are.

Is it not true that a thing seems real to you, like some sin or evil, so-called, some sorrow, trouble or worry, only because your thinking or believing it so makes it so? Others might see that thing entirely differently and might think your view of it foolish. Might they not? If this is true, then your body, your personality, your character, your environment, your world, are what they appear to be to you, because you have thought them into their present status. Therefore you can change them by the same process, if they do not please you; you can make them whatever you will, by thinking them so. But how can one do real thinking, conscious thinking, so as to bring about this change?

First know that the I AM, your Real Self, purposely brought to your attention these things which now are displeasing and which cause you to think them as being what they now seem to be to you.
The only way you can ever bring about this change in thinking, is by first changing your attitude toward all these things you now think are not what they ought to be.

That is, if they are unsatisfactory or obnoxious to you and affect you so as to cause you discomfort of body or disturbance of mind, stop thinking that they can so affect or disturb you. Think of how you will change them. Think of how you will think differently than you HAVE been.

What is a master, who is your master? — Your body, your mind, or You, say it again…I AM.

When you allow inharmonious thoughts to enter your mind, you give them power to effect or disturb you. You think them into power. Granted there are a lot of things you SHOULD be disturbed about in this world, but we’re talking about your personal life here. Your life right now, on many levels, is exactly what you desired it to be, most of which was created by unconscious thinking, meaning having little or no control over your own thoughts and choices, the outcome being things you once desired but now find obnoxious.

Have you ever studied and analyzed the process of the working of your mind when a new Idea fertile with possibilities appears? Have you noticed the relation that desire bears to such an idea, and how, through thinking, that idea is finally brought to actual fruition? There is always first the idea, Then, just to the extent that you grow quiet and focus your attention upon that idea, stilling all the activities of your mind and eliminating all other ideas and thoughts from your consciousness, so that idea can have full sway, the various phases and possibilities contained within that idea unfold. This takes place, however, up to this point, without any volition on your part, other than focusing or concentrating your attention upon the Idea.

Once the human mind has a view of its possibilities, then does your human personality take up its task; adding to the mix the desire to bring into outer manifestation all the possibilities of the idea, desire thus becoming the mortal agent of inspiration and supplies the motive power; just as the human personality is the mortal instrument used to confine and focus that power, your free will.

Where does inspiration come from? Back to the beginning, the breathe of life, the “stuff”, the electricity that contains consciousness in limitless form (to be a little less than scientific in its description perhaps) Yes, all ideas and all desires come from the same consciousness that creates all there is, both somewhere out there AND inside of us, that I AM that I keep mentioning.
We have, then, first the idea in the mind; then the desire to bring the idea into outer manifestation.

Now for the process of realization. In accordance with the definiteness with which the picture of the idea is held in the mind, and the extent to which the idea possesses the personality, does its creative Power, impelled by desire, proceed with its work. This it does by compelling the mortal mind to think out or to imagine (image in), or, in other words, to build mental forms. When this becomes word and is spoken, either silently or audibly, consciously or unconsciously, this substance at once begins to materialize itself, by first directing and controlling the consciousness and all the activities of both mind and body, and of all minds and all bodies connected with or related to the Idea, — for remember, all consciousness, and all minds and all bodies are made of the same substances. — and then so attracting, directing, shaping and molding conditions, things and events that, sooner or later, the idea actually becomes tangible.

So it is that every thing, every condition, every event that ever transpired, was first an idea in the mind. It was by desiring, by thinking, and by speaking that these ideas come into visible manifestation. Think this out and prove it for yourself.

This you can do, if you will, by taking any idea that comes and following it out through the above process to realization; or by tracing back anything you have accomplished, any picture you have painted, any machine you have invented, or any particular thing or condition now existing, to the idea from which it sprang.

This is the process of all Creation.

What we haven’t understood in all the lessons in all the books from all the spiritual teachings of all time is this: You have now and always have had, through this power of thinking, dominion over all the kingdoms of the earth as it were. Maybe we just didn’t know it because we keep assigning that power to something or someone ELSE. Consider that you have now, this moment, only to think and speak, — to realize…and that I AM, the energy, the life that is everywhere IS God, your higher power, the creator, by any name…YOU Are…your Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent Self, which brings about the results, — and the waiting consciousness of the invisible cells of all matter upon which your will and attention become focused, will begin to do exactly according to the image or plans you have prepared by your own thinking.

For all things are made by a Word, and without the Word was not anything made that was made.
