Instructions: Egyptian dream scrying may be traced back thousands of years. The method used by the Egyptians was recorded in the Greek magical papyri which were written between 200 B.C. to 500 A.D. In preparing to use the Egyptian dream scrying method you must not speak to anyone on the evening you plan to scy. You should remain in silence after the setting of the sun. Do not consume alcohol on that day or engage in sex. You must refrain from consuming food for up to four hours before the scrying. After having a warm bath you anoint your temples with olive oil. You will need an oil lamp which must not be coloured red or bear any inscription. Write on a short narrow strip of white linen with ink mixed with myrrh the name of the dream God and the purpose for the dream scrying. Twist the linen strip into a wick and insert into the oil of the lamp. Place the lamp on a table beside your bed. Using the ink draw the image of the dream God upon your left palm. You must decide which God or Goddess you wish to use. Thoth was well used with the Egyptians. Light your lamp. Kneel before the lamp. Concentrating on the image on your left hand recite the following invocation : Thoth I invoke, blessed power of dreams divine, Angel of future fates, swift wings are thine, Great source of oracles to human kind, When stealing soft, and whispering to the mind, Through sleep's sweet silence and the gloom of night, Thy power awake the sight, To silent souls the will of heaven relates, And silently reveals their future fates. You need to concentrate on your question you wish to know the answer to. Around your left hand wrap a piece of black linen about four inches wide and about thirty inches long. The black cloth is called "black" of Isis. Blow out the flame of the lamp. Now go to bed, clear your mind and go to sleep. Have a tape recorder beside your bed so that when you awaken you may recrd your dreams while still fresh in your mind. You will find that the dream will come to you in a voice that is clear and powerfull rather than in dream images. Sometimes the message is sent in cryptic form so take your time in working out the answer. During this segment Lee had a good question; "Why did you use the names of Roman gods for an Eygptian method?" during my explanation of the method itself. I was not able to find an answer to that and can only theorize that perhaps there is a connection between Astrology and magical methodology in that region of the world which at the time was heavily influenced by Greco-Roman culture; it may just come down to documentation by astrologers and magicians who at the time happened to incorporate this method of scrying into their own practices. God bless religions that keep God at their essence. If you belong to a religion and it truly helps you live a happier life, then the religion is serving you as it should, and all is well. Frankly I am hard pressed to name a religion where that is the case, although I am aware of and have personally experienced individual churches and groups who are what they claim to be. I’ve even heard it said that you can’t judge a religion by its people. If that’s the case, then everyone who claims to do anything in the name of their religion or because their god said so, should get a tattoo on their forehead that says ‘just kidding’. Simple human kindness might bring us greater release from pain than following dogma. We might need understanding and comfort more than concepts of sin, heaven, and hell. We might appreciate others just being present with us and loving us as we are, more than prescribing behaviors that will fix us. We might need love more than religion. Next time you are walking down the street, pay attention to your feelings and emotions whenever you pass a large crowd that happens to be looking at something. Many find that they feel an almost irresistible urge to do what the crowd is doing. Would you jump off a bridge if everyone else was doing it? Surprisingly, its more probable than you think. In the Lounge this week: How to focus better and exercises on awareness and how to keep from being inexplicably drawn to bridges. Here's the concentration exercises I promised. Get your brain on. They say the devil is in the details but you'll never see him coming if you can't focus. Exercise 1: Close your eyes. Dictate to a friend or into a recording device what it is you are aware of, using all 5 senses. Take your time. For instance; “Now I am aware of my heart beating; now I am aware of a plane passing overhead,” etc. Check your results. You'll get better at this over time. It has a side effect of sharpening your psychic ability. Exercise 2: Consider Something You Enjoy It's easier, of course, to focus on something you enjoy that on something you don't. You might enjoy reading a good book on your favorite hobby, and lose track of time when you read it. On the other hand, when reading a book for work or furthering your education on a topic you consider boring, you might find yourself looking at the clock every couple minutes! The first thing you need to do is pick something that you enjoy. This might be a hobby, a favorite film, kittens, sports, or so on. For now, just pick one subject. Write down your subject and the current time (or zero if you are using a stopwatch). Focus on the subject and write down the time when your attention on it lapses. The objective is to focus on your chosen topic. Allowing yourself to drift off on tangents is not permitted. That's the point at which your focus is lost and you need to notate the time. For example, let's say your topic was football. Thinking about football, you thought about the first game your dad took you to. You thought about the players coming out on the field. You thought about how you wanted to play. You remembered the first touchdown. You remember going to the games in your dad's old Buick, that navy blue one. At that last point, you drifted from football to cars. So, that would be that point at which you would stop the exercise and write down the time you lost your focus. This is an exercise you'll want to repeat. Your objective is to keep increasing the duration of your attention. If you perform this exercise on a daily basis, you will be able to see how your focus improves. Once you have reached a point where you are satisfied with your progress, it's time to move on to the next exercise. Exercise 3: Consider Something to Which You Are Ambivalent This next exercise is much the same as the previous. The difference is that, instead of using a subject which you enjoy, you will need to pick something to which you are indifferent. That is, you need to pick something for which you have no feelings whatsoever. Something you don't enjoy, but also something you don't dislike. Something that doesn't excite you, but also something that doesn't bore you. Choosing such a topic may be the most difficult part of this exercise! Once you have chosen your subject, then you repeat the same exercise as you did with a subject you enjoy. Write down your starting time and then write down the time at which you lost your focus. Repeat this exercise as you did the previous one. You may find that, despite improving your focus before, you're not able to maintain your focus for as long as you did with an enjoyable subject. That is to be expected, so don't get discouraged! Once you have achieved satisfactory results with this exercise, it's time to move on to the next. These are incidents involving changes in consciousness, perception and emotions, excluding people with diagnosed psychiatric disorders. What does not seem to be a trick of light and shadow is a human form, semi-transparent, wearing what looks like a long white dress or gown. More curious, the figure seems to be holding something in the manner that a person holds a camera or binoculars. One possibility is that this is a double exposure of a living person. In 1959, this image would have been captured on film. If it is not a double exposure and this is a spirit captured on film, then we have some questions: What is the entity looking and why? Do they have cameras and binoculars in the afterlife? Or is this an instance of a time slip in which the camera has recorded a scene from a different time? It has been speculated that this figure might actually be a time traveler or interdimentional being, who has been photographed in the act of watching us. Humans have free will to behave in a manner that is riddled with choices. These choices are good, bad, or benign, depending on the collective norms the majority of society has decided on as a whole. A living body is a bio-matrix containment system. The energy that is contained in it is trapped until the “vehicle” stops working. When a human dies, the physical matter that contains the soul, energy, or spirit, no longer has the potential to function as it should. The energy, or quantum field, quantum energy being the very smallest particles that physicists have been able to study thus far; the energy that makes a person or individual MUST go somewhere. That energy is free to flow to some other form. A lot of our religions have “doctrines” that apply the theory that there is a “heaven” or “hell” and the soul, spirit, or energy travels to this place when the body dies. Point being that science and religion agree that the energy that is our life force goes SOMEwhere else when the physical body dies. Self Improvement is the false notion that somehow we are broken and that in order to be happy and successful we have to "improve" ourselves. The very act of trying to improve ourselves causes us to believe that there is something wrong with us in the first place. The idea that there is something wrong with us is simply not true. And what, my dearests, does THAT manifest? More 'broken'. So here's the deal; you cannot improve yourself because there's nothing wrong with you.
